The story of Fireaway Pizza is a testament to the idea that a passion for food and a strong entrepreneurial spirit can triumph over traditional paths. The founder, Mario Aleppo, a college dropout, has built a successful pizza empire by focusing on what truly matters: quality, consistency, and a hands-on approach to business.

The Man Behind the Brand

Mario Aleppo\'s professional journey is an open book of determination and grit. Born in Mitcham, South London, he left school at 16 with no qualifications and briefly attended college before dropping out. His initial foray into business, a coffee shop, failed within six months. However, undeterred by early setbacks, he was driven by a vision for a pizza brand that would stand out from the rest. This strategic choice allowed him to dedicate his full attention to developing his business from the ground up, proving that a lack of a degree is no barrier to building a successful brand.

Aleppo\'s inspiration came from his Italian grandmother\'s traditional recipes, which she brought to the UK in the 1950s. He rented an empty shop in Sutton, Surrey, and with just three employees, he opened his first Fireaway store in 2016. The name \”Fireaway\” was a nod to the \”Subway-style\” model of offering unlimited toppings and the unique 400-degree wood-fired oven that could cook a pizza in just 160 seconds.
